“I Have Pardoned Ambode, My Supporters Do Not” – Tinubu Reveals
The national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is still undecided whether to give the embattled governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode the second chance to contest for the office of governor in Lagos State, under the platform of APC.
Ambode, sources say have had representations from many prominent Nigerians, including President Muhammadu Buhari, the Vice Yemi Osibajo, religious leaders, monarchs etc., but Tibubu who said Ambode had been foregiven insists that his “foot solders in the mandate group” are saying that he must go.
In a different forum In Abuja, on Thursday, the chairman of APC, Adams Oshomhole, it was gathered appealed to Tinubu to consider the negative consequences that would be generated if he did stick to his gun and remove Ambode.
Comrade Oshomhole had told Tinubu that the timing was not right for such an action and that it would be disastrous if APC should loose the 2019 election to the opposition.
” Oshiomhole told Tinubu to forgive Ambode of whatever offence he may have committed. He said the timing is wrong given the fact that the general elections is just few months away”.
” However in his response, Tinubu pointedly told Oshiomhole that while he has forgiven the governor, his loyalists and party elders are insisting that there is no going back on their resolution not to renew Ambode’s mandate”.
” Tinubu said without the party leaders in Lagos, he himself is nothing and therefore he cannot afford to go against their wishes”.
