Plans by APC to unleash Mayhem at Multiple tribunal venues uncovered
By Dan Zephaniah, Abuja
There are indications that the All Progressives Congress, Akwa Ibom state have renewed their plots to ensure that the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital are relocated to Abuja, the capital City. Our source reports that the renewed plot is fueled by fears in their camp arising from the sequence of their petitions both at the Governorship and the National Assembly Tribuanal. Our correspondents gathered that Obong Nsima Ekere has yet asked for about two adjournments to enable him amend his petition before the Tribunal, a development which commentators have interpreted as being indicative of the absence of substance in the petition. Again, it has been widely reported that Chief Akpabio on the other hand closed his case last week without establishing any case, with his witnesses contradicting each other at the Tribunal.
To achieve this plot, fresh intelligence reveal that the duo of Chief Godswill Akpabio and Obong Nsima Ekere have mobilized thugs to instigate crisis at both seats of the Governorship and National Assembly Tribunal and consequently ride on such grounds to petition the President of the Court of Appeal seeking a relocation of the Tribunal. A relocation, our source reports is considered imperative by the APC in the state as it may be the only avenue for them to be able to interact and seek to compromise the judges which according to them has been difficult to achieve in Akwa Ibom state.
Recall that the APC in the state had already written to the President of the Court of Appeal (PCA) seeking the relocation of the Tribunal to Abuja which was heavily resisted by the People’s Democratic Party and other major Political Parties in the state who all stated that the APC had no reasons to seek the relocation. The crisis planned by the duo, which is to be executed from tomorrow at the Governorship Election Tribunal, Fulga Street, Uyo Akwa Ibom state is designed to provide that essential ingredient, the justification which was lacking in the first petition to the PCA.
Efforts to get the opinion of Chief Godswill Akpabio, Obong Ekere on the matter were not successful at the time of filling this report.
