Notorious Robber ‘Spirit’ Arrested In Katsina State While Trying To Defraud His Victim
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a member of a notorious syndicate of fraudsters that specialises in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The spokesperson or the Command, SP Isah Gambo, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, said that the suspect identified as Auwal Musa, 35, of Bachirawa Qrts, Kano, was arrested on February 28, following a complaint made by one Zaharadeen Lawal, 25, of Kaita LGA of Katsina state.
According to the victim, he received a phone call from GSM No. 08062070061 and the caller identified himself as a “SPIRIT (JINN).
The caller stated that he called in order to reward the complainant for a kindness he had shown to his aged mother about a year ago by offering her a charity. Since then, the caller and his syndicate have deceitfully collected money the sum of three hundred and eighty thousand Naira (N380,000:00K) and recharge cards worth N22,000 from the victim under the pretext of offering charity which will pave his way to greatness and wealth.
Nemesis caught up with Auwal Musa when he was arrested while trying to pick some money which the syndicate had asked the complainant to deposit along Batsari road, Katsina.
An investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the syndicate.
