A’Ibom PDP to Senator Akpabio: Don’t involve us in your Serial Lies
…says outgoing Senator was not expelled from the Party
By Uwakmfon Dan
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has cautioned the outgoing Senator of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chief Godswill Akpabio, not to involve the Party in what it described as serial lies, stating that at no point was the erstwhile Governor expelled from the Umbrella Party.
At a Press Conference held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, Spokesman of the Party, Comrade Ini Ememobong while reacting to claims by Senator Akpabio that he was expelled from the PDP before his ‘movement’ to the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused the former Governor of conspiring with a certain Ntiedo Usoro, the then PDP Chapter Chairman of Essien Udim, to illegally write a letter of expulsion to him and back date same.
Comrade Ememobong said having completed his assignment, the said Ntiedo Usoro later defected and joined Chief Akpabio in the APC and noted that Akpabio’s “ignoble comedy” has been taken beyond sane limits.
He accused the Senator of mocking the PDP as being empty since his defection and said at no time did he (Akpabio) mention the issue of expulsion, which he now uses as a lame defence to keep his seat.
“There is no way that Senator Akpabio could have been expelled by the party, without the concurrence of the State Executive Committee of the party. There is no record Spokesman the existence of such a punitive move undertaken against the senator by his ward or chapter executive council. Expulsion is a process and not an event”, Comrade Ememobong said.
The PDP mouthpiece maintained that Senator is only running from his shadows but however said
Nigerians are not fools and cannot be deceived by double speak, greed propelled dishonesty of Senator Akpabio.
“We warn Senator Akpabio to desist forthwith from including the PDP in his serial lies. He is history to us, for all we care and soon, will be history to his Senatorial District- people who have sent the disgraced senator on compulsory political retirement”, he said.
On his Part, Vice Chairman of the PDP in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Hon. Cletus Eshiet said, “it is erroneous to believe that he (Akpabio) was expelled from the Party at any level, but however expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly elected Senator for the area, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong to deliver on his mandate.
Deputy State Chairman of the Party, Hon. Sunyiekekere Inokon, while also speaking, said Senator Akpabio claimed he was expelled from the PDP, to save his face from embarrassments.
“I am a founding member of PDP. I am a stakeholder in my Local Government Area. There is no decision that would have been taken against Godswill Akpabio that I wouldn’t have been aware. There was no time any meeting was taken to expel Senator Akpabio. All he is doing now is to save his face and the entire world knows. He likes doing things to cover his misdeeds”, Inokon said.
Recall that in August 2018, Chief Godswill at an enlarged Rally held at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, announced his defection from the PDP to the APC, stating he was defecting to pursue what he called ‘national interest.’
