‘Boko Haram caught us napping’ – Nig. Army
President of the Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC) Brigadier General Jonathan Temlong has revealed that the asymmetric warfare the Nigerian troops are currently fighting against the Boko Haram insurgents caught the army napping.
Speaking yesterday at the 8th edition of the National Security Seminar, with the theme, “Fighting tomorrow’s warfare today at the National Defence College auditorium Abuja, Brigadier Temlong said the threat analysis document which revealed the nature of the war being an asymmetric one, was not adopted.
“In the threat analysis we predicted that the major threat our Armed Forces would face in the future will be asymmetric. The problem was that the document was not adopted and let alone implemented. We were therefore caught napping by not being prepared against an asymmetric threat at the onset of the Boko Haram crisis,” he said.
He lamented that the army was not fully prepared at the onset of the war.
