Ekiti 2018: PDP to embark on nationwide street protest by 10am Thursday
The People’s Democratic Party PDP says it is going to embark on a nationwide street protest today Thursday July 12th 2018, to protest the alleged police brutality currently being witnessed in Ekiti state.
The party had yesterday raised alarm over the blockade by personnel of the Nigeria Police of the government house in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.
In a statement late Wednesday night, the PDP’s National Organising Secretary, Colonel Austin Akobundu (retd) said the protest march will begin by 10am simultaneously across the nation.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) has directed that all state chairmen mobilize former NWC Members, Board of Trustees, BoT Members, former Governors, all State Exco Members, Exco members of the party at all levels and stakeholders with our teaming supporters, to embark on peaceful procession to the State Police Command in their respective States to protest the police brutality that happened today (yesterday) in Ekiti State.
“The protest march must begin by 10AM simultaneously across the Nation. All State Chapters are to deliver a protest letter to the Inspector General Of Police through the Commissioner of Police,” the statement reads.
