Extra: APC Chieftain blames Akpabio, Ekere, others for APC woes in Akwa Ibom
By Imabong Udo,Uyo
A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Immediate Past Chairman, Subcommittee on Security, Etinan APC Campaign Committee, Dr Godwin Noah has blame former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, Akwa Ibom APC Governorship aspirant, Obong Nsima Ekere and others for the failure of the APC in the just concluded general election in Akwa Ibom State.
According to him, most of the so called Political actors were mere pretenders who couldn’t even win election in their polling unit.
It could be recalled that the APC Governorship aspirant, Obong Ekere lost in his home local government area, while Senator Akpabio lost in 8 out of the 10 LGA in his Senatorial district.
“We don’t need the services of a clairvoyant to know that most if not all our candidates were not prepared for the elections. Some were more of pretenders than contenders.” He noted
“A situation in which more than 90% of our candidates lost in their units spelt doom for our party ab initio. It goes without saying that most of our candidates didn’t have home base or support let alone have support outside.
“Where did our candidates expect to win when they lost in their units and wards! How on earth would a candidate who contested for a House of Assembly seat lose his unit/ward, and still expected to win elections? The same applies to House of Reps, Senatorial, and Governorship candidates not winning in their units, wards, local government areas.
“That could have been possible if the elections were conducted during the military era or in the absence of card readers. I knew it would be easier for the head of an elephant to pass through the eye of the needle for our party to win the elections of 9th March, 2019 when we lost 29 local government areas to PDP during the presidential and national assembly elections. Where did we expect to manufacturer votes from?” He added.
