‘Fulanis kill because they are illiterates’ – Kebbi Governor
Kebbi state governor Atiku Bagudu has made a case for the violent nature of Nigeria’s herdsmen saying they are prone to violence because of their lack of education.
Governor Bagudu while playing host to information minister Lai Mohammed during his recent visit to the state capital Birnin Kebbi also said extreme climatic conditions was forcing the herdsmen to move about in search of pasture for their cattle.
“It is environmental challenge caused by climate change. The occupational practice of pastoralists and even the fishermen are threatened.
“The water resources and grasses are not available and the pastoralists are forced to move toward the South.
“In Kebbi, the predominant prisoners in custody are the Fulanis; they are prone to crime because of lack of Education.
“On the other hand, they are also victims of cattle rustlers who attack them and take away their animals,” he said.
