I am pained by the killings in Plateau – Buhari
Plateau state in North Central Nigeria was on Sunday thrown into mourning as many people were feared killed after suspected herdsmen attacked a procession of mourners who were returning from burying their dead.
President Muhammadu Buhari accordingly has lamented the loss of lives and properties and vowed to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
In a text message on Sunday night laden with grief, the president expressed sadness over the incident and promised to bring culprits to book.
“The grievous loss of lives and property arising from the killing in Plateau today is painful and regrettable.
“My deepest condolences to the affected communities. We will not rest until all murderers and criminal elements and their sponsors are incapacitated and brought to justice,” the president’s twitter message via his official handle.
Plateua state command of the Nigeria police through its spokesman Terna Tyopev confirmed the incident to reporters yesterday saying 86 people in attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state have died.
Consequently, a dusk to dawn curfew in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South local government areas of thee state have been imposed by the state government.
