Niger state is empowering its teachers with motorcycles worth N2billion
With a loan of N200,000 each, teachers in Niger state are set to take delivery of motorcycles to ease their movements to and from school, says the Commissioner of Education in the state Hajiya Fatima Madugu.
In a media briefing today in Minna, the Niger state capital, the Education commissioner said the approval of N2billion was made by the governor who obtained the loan from one of the commercial banks in Nigeria.
“All arrangements have been concluded and disbursement will commence soon. The motorcycles are to make movement easier for teachers to have access to hard-to-reach areas.
“The selection was carefully done. Teachers who are already indebted to banks are not among the beneficiaries,” the Commissioner stated.
According to the terms of the loan, each of the benefiting teachers would recive N200,000 at 21% interest rate, payable within 18 months.
