Saraki appeals to states to pass Child Rights Act
He made the appeal today at plenary, while addressing the senate on the occasion of the Children’s Day which comes up on May 27th.
He lamented that it was unfortunate that some stats have still not passed the Act, which is supposed to ensure a bright future for the average Nigerian child.
“Please let us work to see that Child Rights Act is passed in all our 36 states in line with whatever peculiarities are in those different states because as we have said there is a lot of violence that we are seeing against our children.
”Once again, I join us to congratulate and celebrate this day, but as we celebrate it let us live up to our own part of our responsibilities by ensuring we make our children healthier, we give them the best education so that they have a bright future,” he said.
He added that it was the responsibility of the government to re-ensure the security of the country because the children were the most vulnerable in areas of security challenges.
