Saraki Set To Clinch PDP Kwara Central Senatorial Candidate – PDP Chairman
The Kwara State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party , Alhaji Kola Shittu , on Sunday hinted that it was still possible for the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to emerge the Kwara Central senatorial candidate of the party.
Saraki had earlier contested for the PDP presidential ticket and came third with 317 votes in the primary that held in Port Harcourt, River State at the weekend .
It was reportedly learnt that although a candidate for Kwara Central Senatorial district, whose name was not disclosed had emerged through consensus arrangement but some sort of compromisses could still be reached for Saraki to become the PDP Kwara Central Senatorial District candidate and his name submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission before the period for submission of candidates closes today. .
It was further learnt that arrangement had been concluded to fly back to Ilorin, the Kwara PDP delegates who went to Port Harcourt for the party’ s presidential primaries.
It was further gathered that after the arrival of the delegates , Saraki would be formally presented as the party ’ s senatorial candidate for Kwara Central.
The state PDP chairman also disclosed that there was a procedure for Saraki to emerge as the candidate if he so wished.
Shittu said , “If he (Saraki) so wishes , there are procedures of doing that. We have affirmed somebody through consensus. Since tomorrow is the last date for the submission of candidates , there is the possibility of him emerging this night ( Sunday). It is still possible . ”
