Senate orders investigation into killing of 7 police personnel in Abuja
The senate today ordered its committee on police to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of seven police officers by unknown gunmen in Galadimawa, a community in Abuja a few days ago.
Reports had it that the late policemen were on a stop and search duty when they met their untimely death.
Senate President Bukola Saraki while speaking on the matter today at plenary said the National Assembly should be seen to be there for those that protect lives and in the process of their duty lose their lives.
”As a National Assembly, as much as we pay attention to ordinary citizens that lose their lives, we should also be seen to be there for those that protect our lives and in the process of their duty lose their lives.
”I would like us to please find out the circumstances around the killings of these 7 police officers and how we can also commiserate with their familes. So that they know that we do care and we do know what they are doing to keep us all safe.
”So, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police, if you can please to look into this and let us have a Report by next week,” Saraki said.
