Senate to put up measures to check tanker drivers’ road lawlessness
Senators at plenary today Wednesday vowed to put measures in place to check the incessant acts of lawlessness by tanker drivers especially those who carried dangerous products.
Making reference to last weeks petrol tanker explosion on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos where more than 10 people were killed with over 50 cars burnt, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai said the National Assembly need to put measures in place against trucks carrying dangerous products.
“How can a petrol tanker carrying 33,000 liters of fuel experience break failure, who are those in charge to check these tankers? We need to put measures in place against trucks carrying dangerous products,” he said.
“Unfortunately the roads are appalling, we are all very familiar with the Lagos- Ibadan express way. I want to appeal to the Senate and Nigeria as a whole to create trailer parks,” Senator Tinubu said.
Senator Gbolahan Dada on his part said; ”Tanker drivers are lawless, if impossible to curtail them i propose we create underground pipelines to move the petrol.”
