Akwa Ibom Coconut refinery takes off June 2019

The Chairman Technical Committee on Foreign Direct Investment Mr. Gabriel Ukpeh has said that the much publicised coconut refinery in Mkpat Enin will take off by June 2019.
Mr. Ukpeh disclosed this while appearing on a live AKBC Radio 90.5FM program “Update Akwa Ibom”.
According to the Chairman, the refinery will harness the produce from coconut plantation located in Mkpat Enin which the present administration under Governor Udom Emmanuel has invested a huge financial resources to see to its completion.
The Foreign Direct Investment boss, reminded the people of the state that the governor does not intend to pay lip service over the project due to its numerous benefits to the state and the people, adding that, when operational the refinery apart from servicing the internal needs of the state will also export the product to other places of interest.
He also used the forum to formally announce government readiness to establish the first fertilizer manufacturing outfit in the state reminding the people that this is in addition to the already existing fertilizer blending plan in Abak.
Ukpeh noted that, in line with the present administration’s determination to boost farming and agriculture across the state, the fertilizer manufacturing company will enhance and improve agricultural production as well as meeting the urgent needs of large and small scale farmers in that direction.
He said that, the planned manufacturing outfit which is to be sited at Ikot Abasi is a 3 billion naira project which will be managed by foreign investors with agreeable equity participation by the Akwa Ibom State government.
According to him, the state government is presently trying to dot the i and to cross the t before proceeding to clear the site for the much needed project.
On the proposed civil servants Housing scheme he assured that the present administration under Governor Emmanuel is very passionate about civil servants accommodation, Hence its resolved to establish Housing units Ikot Adaidem Ibiono Ibom.
The Chairman reiterated the need for Akwaibomites to be creative in order to compliment government effort in raising future entrepreneurs.
