#NigeriaDecides: INEC to decide Akpabio’s fate today
Speaking during a press briefing, the State Resident Electoral Officer, Mike Igini assures Nigerians and the World that he will never bend the will of the electorate for any reason.
Putting to rest the allegations that the commission had collected huge sum of money to manipulate the result of Essien Udim local government area which was the only local government remaining to favor a particular candidate.
Igini noted that he would resigned from his post and keep his integrity intact rather than giving up to pressure and bend the will of the people.
“I will never bend for any reason. I rather leave this job with my integrity intact than betray the will of the people. The will of the people must speak in Akwa Ibom” he noted.
Currently the PDP candidate, Dr Chris Ekpenyong has won 8 of the 9 LGA declared by INEC while Senator Godswil Obot Akpabio of the APC won just one LGA. The result of Essien Udim LGA has not being officially declared.
” Someone tempered with the result of Essien Udim LGA, no one was announced the winner but following our previous reports, PDP Candidate (Chris Ekpenyong) was leading in 8 LGA’s out of the 10 LGA’s that made up the Senatorial District while the APC candidate ( Godswill Akpabio) was leading in only 1 LGA. When once we are done with the Essien Udim LGA result, I will announce the will of the people”
