2019: We need house of Assembly seat not deputy governor – Ekparakwa youths

The people of Ekparakwa Ward 7 in Oruk Anam local Government area have restated their satisfaction and contentment with the House of Assembly position conventionally zoned to the area.
An independent survey and facts finding result gathered by our correspondents from the 14 villages that make up the political Ward reveal that the youths, Women and Students of the area strongly oppose an attempt by some Elders and APC returnees to trade the House of Assembly position for an unseen and “mirage” deputy Governorship position.
A concern youth from the are who pleaded anonymity with our correspondent described the situation as very sad and out of place ” it is so sad that some APC returnees in this my village who have just returned to the PDP, instead of blending with the party, would be craving for the position of a deputy Governor. We reject such insinuations, we need the House of Assembly seat not Deputy Governor. ”
Another youth from Ikot Inyang village who spoke with our correspondent maintained that the current house leader from Anam was well suited for the position considering his investment in the party.
“Why should a man who couldn’t do anything for us as a commissioner for 8years be calling for meetings, asking us to crave for the position of the Deputy Governor instead of House of Assembly seat.
“We cannot join such train. If there is any man that deserves the position if the deputy Governor, from Oruk Anam, it should be Rt Hon Udo Kierian Akpan. That is a man of capacity and not a man who plays no or minimal role in his Ward during elections”
The people of Ekparakwa Ward 7 charged the general public to dismiss all rumours making rounds in some quarters that Ekparakwa Ward 7 longs for the position of the Deputy Governor.
They also described the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor – Mr Moses Ekpo MFR, as a man of capacity and true embodiment of Loyalty who has been a perfect match with Governor Udom Emmanuel. They wonder why they should be craving for a position that is not vacant. They further stated that it is the duty of the party to choose a running mate and as such, they cannot be a part of any attempt to go against the decision of the party.
