Extra: I don’t have any business with APC
By Abasiama EtukAkpan
For several days now, I have received calls from several people on the reason “I left the APC , Why I congratulated Elder Aniekan Umanah of the PDP and why I wrote an article against Senator Godswill Akpabio”.
I wish to clarify some salient issues raised as follows and to state my position regarding the March 9th Governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.
I have known Rt. Hon Emmanuel Ekon for years now, my relationship with him was when he was still an active member of the PDP and sometime in 2013.
I had worked for him using my TV Programme on Akbc to promote his programmes and projects to the people of Abak Federal Constituency and Akwa Ibom State in general.
Since then,he has seen me as a brother and son despite the fact that I am not from his federal constituency by birth but born and brought up in the constituency.
I supported my elder brother and Boss, Rt. Hon Emmanuel Ekon for the Abak Federal Constituency 2019 seat up on till he defected to the APC.
My support for him was and is based on my own assessment of his kind of man and will support him if the opportunity comes knocking again in future.
It was not because of money that took me to him.I believed in his leadership ideologies and programmes. Having looked at his antecedents in his first and second terms,it endeared me to stand by him for a third term. I have no regrets supporting him.
Hon. Ekon is like a father to me and he has impacted on my life positively. He has contributed a greater part of my success in life today and I appreciate him from the bottom of heart for all he has done for me and for my relationship with him,i still value till tomorrow, I will still respect and honour him all my life.
He has been of great support to my media entrepreneur and I will never speak ill of him. The day I do, posterity will never forgive me. I supported my big brother with my entire life and with everything I have in my life and could not have betrayed him today for any reason, the support I had for him was taken to the last day which eventually the electoral umpire declared his opponent the winner.
I don’t regret coming in contact with this great gentleman in my entire life.I congratulated his opponent,Elder Umanah on my own grounds and this to me has nothing to do with my boss.
When he left for the APC,many believed I was in the APC.No,of course,i disagree in totality that I was never a member of the All Progressives Congress(APC).I don’t have any allegiance with the party. I supported my boss as an individual not as a party.
I wouldn’t have stopped promoting him because of party sentiments even with all the monies in the whole world, I couldn’t have abandoned him as at then.I have never written anything for Obong Nsima Ekere because I don’t believe in his style of leadership at any point in time. The sentiment that I have left APC is totally “balderdash, childish and false”.
I have never attended any APC meeting in my Village, Ward,LGA not even at the State Level. I only showed uncommon loyalty to a man that has been a like a father before party sentiments came in. So I don’t have any business to do with the APC.
On the Governorship elections coming up on March 9,2019 in our State, My support and loyalty is for Governor Udom Emmanuel for several reasons. He has attracted dividends of democracy to the people of Akwa Ibom State in the area of infrastructure, industrialization and the ensuring of peace and security to the people of the State. I am a proper Annnag son and it is said, “that an in-law does not carry palm tree for an in-law to sit on it”.
I am from Oruk Anam by birth and my beloved sister and mother ,Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is happily married to our Leader and Boss, Governor Udom Emmanuel.I can’t do less than supporting the performing Governor to complete their mandatory second term mandate of 8years in 2023 so that power shift to Uyo Senatorial District in peace and harmony and return to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district as at when due in order for young men and women like us to come out and contest as long as God gives us life.
My support for Governor Udom Emmanuel is Sacrosanct and will remain so as long as he stays as our Governor and leader. I will canvass for votes and support for him on March 9.I don’t have any business with the APC and has declared my unalloyed support to Governor Udom Emmanuel as an indigene of Akwa Ibom State with my constitutional right.
I condemn in totality the court injunction made by former Governor and incumbent Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. Chief Akpabio against the duely elected Senator of the district,Engr Ekpenyong. The fact remains that Engr. Chris Ekpenyong won elections on ground in 8LGAs.
I was a witness to the free and fair elections which took place in my unit and the PDP won convincingly and overwhelmingly. So anyone saying elections was rigged in Oruk Anam for Engr. Ekpenyong for instance needs to have a rethink.
I will go at any length to defend this fact even in the court of law. I have clearly stated some reasons that caused the defeat of Senator Akpabio in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district in my earlier article.
As an individual which is my personal opinion,if anyone has a contrary opinion, he or she should also tell us with evidence. I don’t hold anything against Senator Akpabio and I hold him in high esteem as a man that has done his best for our State but I have to speak the truth when I see one which I have done.
I am not declaring my support for Gov Emmanuel because of money but because of the future I have seen as a young man and the future is in justice and unity of our dear state. Gov Emmanuel is my in-law and I love and adore him so much. I supported him right from 2014 when he was an Secretary to the State Government so I don’t see anything that will make me leave him to support a man who has no interest in my welfare or that of my people and immediate community.
A man who wont and can’t do anything for Oruk Anam or even my immediate village.
I will end my points and will advise that I don’t and will never regret working with Hon. Emmanuel Ekon in my entire life. If I have to choose a boss again, I will still choose him. He is a man I love so much and can never speak ill of him. He is and will always remain a good man to me and many young men . It’s time I returned home to do the work of the community.
I will openly host a two day massive street rally for Governor Udom Emmanuel with my friends and supporters who shall vote for his reelection on March 9, massively within the week to declare my(our) total support to him and all other candidates of the PDP.
Akwa Ibom shall be better with a man like Governor Udom Emmanuel.
