Oruk Anam 2019: A Timely Advice to Supposed Aspirants
By Itoro Ime Noah
Let me say this ho ha! You see that Oruk Anam 2019 State Constituency Election? Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan will only be a fool not to vie for a position that he is constitutionally qualified to contest, favored by zoning arrangement and has perfected the job requirement and is also in high demand by the party statutory delegates, potential ad hoc delegates and majority of electorates across Oruk and Anam zones of Oruk Anam.
As am speaking, all of the aspirants against Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan have been rejected by their PDP ward executive and members, statutory delegates and political stakeholders. If I am lying, let any other aspirants say otherwise with evidence and I’ll also present my recent evidence! To be rejected by one’s own in any venture is understood but when in politics, outsiders reject you in addition to your own people, you need no advice on why you should retreat.
Ye good for protest, in politics and of course elsewhere, sensible people do not fight rejection by demonstration as dramatized by the about 30 Oruk Anam supposed youth leaders. A real aspirant makes findings on why he or she is rejected. Makes conscious effort to convince the stakeholders on why he or she should be accepted, and wages enormous campaigns like Hon. Prince Ikim did in 2011 not the infantile display of cardboards with illegible letters outside the local government as people without leaders or advisors at home. Such a move was an insult to the traditional, political and even religious leaders of Oruk Anam! Afo asuk ofon ke protest?
Let me reiterate, by every standard, 2019 is the turn of Anam. Anam should not be left without an elective position. No politically knowledgeable person with a good sense of justice will propose that any apart of Oruk or Anam be deliberately left without an elective position. Since Oruk is occupying the chairmanship position at the party level and at the local government council, ANAM MUST NECESSARILY OCCUPY THE LEGISLATIVE SEAT. If we the Oruk people were eyeing the House of Assembly position, we shouldn’t for any reason have contested for the position of the chairman. If it is an afterthought, let the elected chairman from Oruk resign and we contest for the state house position, no two ways about it. Our brothers paraded as aspirants should not be deceived any longer! The truth must be emphasized here, if actually there was any chance that Oruk will win the 2019 House of Assembly election, the current aspirants would not have been among the prominent aspirants.
I pity my brothers, the supposed aspirants, who are misguided into aspiring against the entitlement of another zone. I only pray at the end of the nomination, they have enough money for their daily upkeep as I am 100% sure they will be abandoned by the same purported sponsors after 2019 as our other Oruk aspirants were abandoned after the 2015 nomination and the 2017 local government elections. Again, let it be known, the political, economic and administrative pedigrees of all the aspirants do not meet up the pedigree of Sir Udo Kierian Akpan, even pre- 2011, and to worsen the matter, it is not even the turn of Oruk, what then are they using to pitch their campaign? If Oruk was in all earnest interested in 2019, we had an enormous opportunity since 2015 to have groomed our people. Let’s not deceive ourselves, this thing demands more than waking up in 2018 with probably borrowed money with no political root to build connections for 2019 elections. The process started years before now!
Again, how on earth do people who do not have the inkling on how to win a mere party nomination intends to win a general election for the PDP? Aspirants, please receive sense; no amount of protest sponsored on your behalf will win you votes. Ask yourselves why they are yet to even adopt anyone of you in less than 2 months to the nomination? You are being used brethren. After 2019, you will be on your own. I am telling you from my own experience and the experiences of other Oruk Anam people. We do not like ourselves. We only remember ourselves when it is time to go for a fight. Learn from other people’s experiences!
Great people, 2019 is for the Anam people and the people in their wisdom have only fronted one aspirant and his name is Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan. Nurture no doubt; he will win the nomination in 2018 and the general election in 2019. With few achievements, he won it in 2015 even when we had strong and active political gladiators like Atuekong Don Etiebet, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukoette and Senator Ittak Bob Ekarika as active PDP members from Oruk. He won the ticket in the PDP nomination and further won the general election against an Oruk person in the opposition. With innumerable achievement so far, he will have a landslide victory in 2018 nomination and 2019 general elections. His maximal performance in the House of Assembly, human empowerment schemes and the overwhelming goodwill he is currently enjoying from constituents and above all the very fact that this is Anam turn put him ahead of any other aspirants.
Hear me and hear me now, 2019 is for Gov. Udom Emmanuel, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan as Akwa Ibom state governor, Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and member representing Oruk Anam state constituency respectively. It’s a complete set and will be determined first by the delegates and then by the general electorates. Even if you eventually decamped to the opposition to join your brothers you had chased away from the PDP since 2015, the rest of us in PDP, Oruk will unite with the all PDP Anam zone to defeat you.
Stop being misled by a man whose goodwill is decreasing to fight a man whose goodwill is increasing.
