Senator Ned, his 6th wife – Regina Daniels and the rest of us
By Barr. Ewa Okpo Edmund II
Ordinarily, I mind my business on issues like this but since I’m in my gospel spirit today let me also lend out some thoughts on this Regina/Ned thread.
That girl has the right under law to marry whoever she desires. The old man has the right to marry whoever and whatever number of whoever he so desires to marry as far as he doesn’t conflict with the laws of this country. Ask your lawyer how.
Now, how many of us have considered the fact that some young guy may have married the girl and crushed her career but this Ned of a senator is even promoting her career further? Showbiz needs show to be in business for Christ’ sakes!
In fact, some young dude would have married her and turned her into a punching bag but Uncle Ned has turned himself into her handbag.
What about cheating? Some guy would have married her and still sneak out of their hotel room on their wedding night to have a fling with her chief bride’s maid. But Papa Ned doesn’t have that kind of adventure in him. He’s too bold to sneak around. If he sees a woman he likes he marries her and adds her to his pearl collections.
Somebody is saying she’s too young but haven’t we seen very beautiful girls grow old without husbands? Leave her like that and the whole world of men will flirt with her and go back to their respective villages to pick a wife. To make matters worse, she could even fall in love with one who would turn her into a single mother and abandon her. What’s the term for it again these days? Aha, baby momma! Balderdash! In fact, Double balderdash! Triple aint enough, Etcetera Balderdashes!!!
Oh, I even hear she’s reaping where she didn’t sow and I ask, who sowed there to start with? I know a couple of guys that would have fleeced her in the name of love. she would spend her entire Nollywood earnings on the idiot and he’ll throw her things out of her own house for another tiny periwinkle of a girl.
Today, she’s a prime celebrity for her spousal expedition and I hear her family members and friends are getting the dividends of “Nedocracy” for her sake. Wonders men perform for love! And someone is somewhere getting mad over her. Is that not witchcraft? If those beneficiaries go to mountain of fire and miracles church to scream “die by fire” now don’t you know you’ll suddenly need fire service in your life? Apprentice!
A guy will be condemning Regina meanwhile he’s still running after girls that are way below his age. Some of them are even married like Ned. In this case who’s the honorable one? Ned who’s bold enough to take a small girl for a sixth wife or you who’s sneaking inside the pants, bras and inboxes of poor small girls? Olodo! Capital Olodo! Don’t you know there are other young guys who aren’t happy you’re taking those small girls from them? They will buy recharge cards for the girls, you will buy Phone, they will pay keke drop from their feeding money for the chic, you will drive her about town in your car. They will invite her to their small cubicle, you will lodge her in hotels even pay house rent for her, throw birthday party for her, take her to first class celebrity nite clubs. Local champion! “Thank God for Ned” those small boys will be praying now with you in their minds. “Person don follow pass you.”
Some are just jealous. Leave the morality facade, they are wishing they were Ned, for the guys whether single or married. Even some of the female folks single or married are equally wishing they were Regina. Na who no like beta thing?
Jealous that Ned has taken her all for himself. Jealous that Regina has won a jackpot for herself. They want the poor girl to hustle like them. They want her to suffer like them. Bad belle people!
Would any of you have married her or picked her bills the way this man is doing now? This world is a terrible place naturally, and being a Nigerian living in Nigeria is bad enough, not to talk of the present economic situation of the nation, and a small girl who’s being smart and bold enough to save herself from these multiple vississitudes is being crucified by people too idle and timid to help themselves waiting for heaven to help them. Siddon lookers!
Most risible of all are those attempting to justify the union with some very bizarre wisdoms like claiming that Nigerians hailed Macron of France but are criticizing Regina. They bring in a rather clumsy ethnic cum gender suffusion to the rhethoric. What a carricature! No disrespect intended please. Is there anything Nigerians don’t praise and criticize jointly and severally? Anyway, that should be homily for another vespers.
For today, let’s stop hypocrisy. These things happen everyday in different ways. This is not the first time a senator is buying a wife for himself. One from the far north once purchased a baby bride from far away foreign yonder and heavens never fell. A beastful Ex-Governor even acquired a carribean jewel young enough to be his grand daughter and they’re still very well happily married today.
In this country we have seen a national beauty queen marry a retired rugged old tragic hero who later became blind. Yes, how was Ojukwu supposed to behold Bianca his wife to know where to…?
Where’s Ojukwu today? Where is Bianca now? Trust me, cobwebs haven’t taken over her potpouri! Someone’s oiling it. Someone has been.
C’mon, we’ve been here before. So don’t be discouraged. Ned may have Gina today but who knows? There’s always hope for those on the sidelines.
In all of these we should learn to use our own advantage to our own advantage and stop wishing contrary of others. If little Regina followed money that is her choice. Not all girls will follow sweet tongues. Not all women will follow dreams and visions, Josephs aren’t many in our world today, and come to think of it even Joseph in the bible, no young girl followed him until he rose into his dreams. Nobody will want his sister to marry a pauper. One of my lecturers once told us in class that a poor brilliant lawyer is of no consequence to his society. Hustle and be your own Ned and marry your own Reg. If Ned has oppressed you go and look for who you will also oppress, if Reg has outsmarted you go and look for who to outsmart also. When you have money nobody will tell you how to use it so nobody should tell anybody how to make money. Until then I leave you with the word of Apostle Paul to the Church in Thessalonica, precisely in Chapter 4, at verse 11 which reads: “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, mind your business and work with your own hands as we have instructed you.”
