“I will reclaim my stolen mandate” Akpabio heads to Tribunal
Former Senate Minority Leader and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom North West, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has approached the election petition tribunal sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital.
In a petition filed by his lawyer, Sunday Ameh SAN on Monday, Senator Akpabio is seeking to commenced a legal process aimed at reclaiming his allegedly stolen mandate in the February 23 senatorial election.
Senator Akpabio who alleged electoral irregularities during the poll claimed that he won the election according to an alleged figure from the INEC office in Uyo, which he claimed that he polled 138,256 votes to defeat the Senator Elect Christopher Ekpeyong who polled 123,843.
But according to result annonced by INEC, Ekpenyong polled 118,215 to defeat Akpabio who polled 83,158.
”The former governor of Akwa Ibom and his party has approached the election petition tribunal to ventilate their grievances as well as reclaim their stolen mandate,” His lawyer told newsmen in Uyo
