5 APC governors visits Tambuwal, sue for peace and unity
Five governors of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) yesterday met behind closed doors with the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Tambuwal who was rumored to have perfected plans to dump the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the People Democratic Party has blamed the Federal Government for failing to tame the spread of insecurity across the country.
Sources who spoke with our reporter on the condition of anonymity disclosed that the visit of the 5 APC governors was initiated by president Muhammadu Buhari to persuade Tambuwal to stay put in the APC.
“The president is very worried, so is the party leadership, the visit was to prepare the ground for the visit of the party leadership on the instance of the president.
“We don’t want to lose Sokoto, in fact, we don’t want to lose any state, president Buhari has given the matching order to the party leadership and the APC governor’s forum to do everything possible to bring stability to the party.
“Tambuwal is a very big force when it comes to national politics, we won’t allow him to go, I can assure you that Mr president is not losing sleep over the R-APC saga, don’t allow anyone to deceive you.
“But the most important thing right now is that he has a country to govern, he has promises to fulfill and he is doing just that”
The five governors who visited Tambuwal include Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara and Kashim Shettima of Borno. Others were those of Adamawa, Jibrilla Bindow; Jigawa, Badaru Abubakar; Katsina, Aminu Masari; and Niger, Abubakar Sani Bello.
Speaking before the meeting Governor Yari of Zamfara who lead the delegation disclosed that the APC governors were in Sokoto to commiserate with Tambuwal, the people of Sokoto and the families of victims of the recent killings in Rabah Local Government Area of the state
