IGP: We require N560bn to operate maximally
Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris says the Nigeria Police Force NPF needs about N560bn annually to be transformed to international standards.
The police boss made the disclosure yesterday in Kaduna at the Northern states stakeholders’ security summit.
According to the I.G, only N10bn out of the budgeted N31bn meant for capital and overhead expenditure for the force in 2017 ha so far being released.
“I have visited Benue and Nasarawa states and observed that the crises trailing the Benue State prohibition of open grazing of livestock would have been mitigated if it had first established grazing ranches as provided in the law established by the state Assembly,” the IGP said.
According to him, the protection of lives and properties in any society must not be left to the police alone, “it must be everybody’s business,” he stressed.
