By Amadie Akpabio
It was an atmosphere of joy expressed in songs and dances On Sunday at the St Luke Parish of the Catholic Church, Ikot Esenam in Oruk Anam as the women of ward 10 led by the ward women leader, Lady Ekaette Udosen gathered in large numbers, adorned in beautiful uniforms to celebrate the victory of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan and other PDP candidates in the just concluded elections conducted by INEC.
The thanksgiving service according to the woman leader, Ekaette Udosen was done in fulfilment of the pledge by the women during the party campaigns that they will return to thank and glorify God if the PDP emerged victorious in the elections. According to her, ‘we are here to tell God thank you as part of our vow with him, the election was not easy but God did it.” She reiterated that the ‘PDP’s victory and that of Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan in particular is the Victory for women and mean more empowerment.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Father Joseph Edim in his homily admonished Christians, politicians and leaders to always build their faith in God, adding that God alone is the giver of power. He particularly thanked the women for returning to God in thanksgiving just like the biblical leper. He charged other Christians to emulate the women of ward 10.
The event also had in attendance the village head of Ikot Esenam, Sir Malachi Nkantion, the church chairman, Mr Ignatius Fabian, amongst others.
