Unguarded statements by politicians un-Islamic – Cleric
Muslim cleric in the country have decried the rate of unguarded statements credited to some politicians which according to them is highly against the Islam religion and capable of inciting violence.
The Council of Imams and Ulamas in Kaduna State made the remarks yesterday while addressing journalists on the state of the nation.
According to the chairman of the council, Sheikh Usman Abubakar Babantine, recent utterances by a leading politician from Kaduna State by use of harsh language, calling names and cursing political opponents was very unfortunate and may likely trigger violent actions, counter reactions and portends a lot of danger to the country.
He said this type of political terrorism was against the teachings of Islam and contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and common sense.
