Akwa Ibom 2019: Nsima Ekere’s high handedness will destroy APC
By Asuquo Okwong
A few weeks ago, the jubilation we had in Oro nation was unending when Obong Victor Antai joined us. From the street of Atabong in Okobo to Urue Offong Oruko the story was the same. People troupe out in numbers for the first time in the history of Oro Nation to identify with the All Progressive Congress (APC).
As a party officer and a grassroot mobilizer, I had never witnessed such show of solidarity and love before. I joined the APC in 2015 to protest the injustice done by the then governor, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio when he denied us our right to be governor and imposed a certain man who he claimed was the best thing to ever happen to us in this present democratic dispensation.
We teem up with Umana Okon Umana then because we had the chance of becoming the deputy governor, even though, Akpabio and the PDP did not allow us to do election in the State which we would have clearly won, we did our best.
The coming of Victor Antai was timely, and if the APC had allowed us to do our nomination democratically, Antai would have won the election clearly and inspire the APC to win the general election in Oro nation in 2019.
But Obong Nsima Ekere in his usual style teamed up with Senator Nelson Effiong and encourage the national leadership of our party to disgrace and screened out Antai, then impose a sleeping Senator on us.
I know Obong Nsima Ekere think, the coming of Senator Godswill Akpabio who is a master in election manipulation will win them the 2019 election in the state, but this is not true. Federal might will come as we keep singing but without the support of the majority of Akwa Ibomite federal might will not work.
Oro People are not fools, the current governor has elevated us to the secretary of the State government, the APC which I am proudly a member are currently relegating our best players to the background, we must stand against this for the sake of our collective future. If the injustice done to Victor Antai and Oro Nation is not corrected immediately, we will be forced to look elsewhere where the interest of Oro People will be protected.
Note this, Akon Eyakenyi will defeat sleeping Senator Nelson Effiong with a massive margin come 2019, Antai was our best chance.
