Okonjo-iweala Appointed Into Commonwealth High-level Group
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, has been selected into an High Level Group on governance of the Commonwealth secretariat. Ben Maloney, communications officer, Commonwealth secretariat confirmed the news through a statement.
Ben said that the new position would make suggestions on administration of the Commonwealth secretariat.
The statement read: ”
“At their last Summit in Malta, Commonwealth heads of government directed the secretary-general to form the group.
“Today individuals are talking about the extent of the gathering’s work and the regions of administration it will look at over the coming months.
“The procedure is open and the abnormal state amass reports to the heads.
“The issue of progression of the Head of the Commonwealth isn’t a piece of the gathering’s command.”
The group is led by Anote Tong, previous President of Kiribati from 2003 to 2016.
Okonjo-Iweala served as Minister of Fiance during the reign of former President of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan, is among the seven-part group.
Others incorporate Lord Howell, previous British vitality secretary; Louise Frechette, previous UN representative secretary-general; and Robert Hill, previous Australian guard serve.
Woman Miller, previous agent executive of Barbados and George Vella, previous outside clergyman of Malta are likewise individuals from the gathering.
The group works freely of the London-based Commonwealth secretariat and would report just to the heads of Commonwealth governments.
The group is required to answer to the Commonwealth heads of government meeting in London in April, which is probably going to be the last that the Queen would go to.
